About Chris

My Story

I was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. My parents say I started tinkering with things as soon as I could hold a hammer. I was raised in a 110-year old house, so a lot of things needed work! I starting working for my family’s maintenance company when I was 12. Later I polished my skills working for various construction and home remodeling companies in Arizona, Iowa, and Minnesota. I'm proud to now call Flagstaff, AZ my home. In 2017, I successfully launched Blue Ox Construction as my own business, to better serve my community.

My Values

Excellence and Professionalism

I’ve worked on everything from 100-year-old homes and barns in the Midwest to mission-style homes in Arizona; from geodesic domes to lakeside cabins. My favorite project to date was restoring a condemned house that started its life as a barn in 1886. We fixed everything from the foundation up to the roof and brought it back to its original turn-of-the-century style with solid wood floors, trim, and doors. I love taking a worn-out structure and turning it back into a home. When it comes to the job, I bring passion and professionalism to all of my projects. I want the result to be a product you can be proud of.

Personalized Approach

I'm licensed, bonded, and insured, and take pride in providing quality work. I believe in transparency and am straightforward about my rates and cost estimates. And because I’m a one-man crew, I can stay focused on your project all the way through. I’ll walk you through your project, start to finish, so we stay on the same page. When something unexpected happens, I’ll keep you in the loop. What matters to me is that my customers are happy at the end of the day and the project is done right.

My Community Matters to Me

When possible I buy material from local sawmills and hardware and decor from local artisans - and I never mark up the cost of materials for a project. Ask me about discounted rates if you know someone in need of a helping hand. I also love to reduce waste by repurposing old materials or donating them to people in need. I’m always happy to make new connections in my neighborhood and in the community!
